Hello! I'm so excited to be at Griffin Middle School this year as an English Language Arts teacher for 8th grade students. The warm and positive atmosphere at Griffin is great and it motivates me to do my best for students, parents and staff members.
This will be my 25th year as a teacher. My teaching career has mostly been in the Fulton County School District where I provided students with gifted instruction for 15 years. As a teacher in Fulton County Schools, I implemented rigorous instruction that provided creative and challenging experiences for gifted learners. Additionally, I monitored and evaluated student engagement with differentiated
researched based activities to promote critical thinking. My responsibilities also included training and coaching my colleagues in visible thinking strategies as well as technology based programs for instructional rigor.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle School instruction, and a Master's degree in Christian Education and Old Testament theology. My teaching certificates are from New Jersey and Georgia, and are specific to Elementary, Middle School instruction (Language Arts and Social Studies) and Gifted Education.
My educational philosophy highlights that skillful educators build good relationships with their students based on mutual respect and trust. This sets the tone for an effective and innovative classroom community. It is my desire to educate students so that they become responsible, successful and productive citizens. In each passing year, I am motivated to inspire a passion of learning in my students.
I am married to a great husband who fully supports my teaching career. We enjoy spending time with our families, cooking, traveling and hiking adventures.
